A new article by Heather Kennedy, assistant professor at the Colorado School of Public Health, and Elia Delphi, graduate student in the UC Berkeley School of Social Welfare, introduces the YPAR Network’s recently released training series designed to strengthen adults’ capacity to partner with youth in Youth Participatory Action Research (YPAR).
The article provides an overview of YPAR as an equity-focused approach in which youth and adults work together to conduct research and take action on issues that matter to young people. Delphi and Kennedy summarize existing evidence on developmental, professional, and organizational benefits of YPAR and describe how youth-led inquiry informs improvements in programs, policies, and school environments.
They also outline each of the first three YPAR training modules now available, with additional modules forthcoming.
